SMARTBRO's: (Slow) Speed

I remember hearing marketing lines that say SmartBro gives out speed as fast as 2Mbps. In my several years of SmartBro experience, I can’t remember having experienced that. I looked up Smartbro’s website and it says that the download speed can go up to 1mbps.

Now, I feel that this website is not updated and that they are now claiming that it is up to 2MBPS.

Anyway, I feel that my internet is unusually slow the past few days that I did a speed test.

The result speaks for itself. My speed is less than 100KBPS.

Now, I know what Smartbro will say. They will make an excuse that 1 or 2 MBPS is their company’s maximum speed. However, if you will ask them what is the guaranteed minimum, they will be unable to answer. I know that for a fact for they have given me such a stupid excuse the past few years.

I really feel that the NTC and the congress should act fast and crack their whips against the great Oligopoly called Smart and Globe.

Bad Information technology is greatly detrimental to the economy and providing poor telecommunication and broadband service is tantamount to economic sabotage.

Something To be Proud of: UN Rehires Retired Filipino General

This reminds me of the great American General Douglas Mac Arthur who was called back from retirement to lead troops in retaking Japanese occupied countries in Asia and eventually leading Japan and reestablishing it as a peace loving and modern country.

Gen. Natalio Ecarma III retired a few days ago. However, the United Nations leadership believes that he did a splendid job as its commander of UN troops in the Golan Heights. Because of that, they requested that he be given an extended tour. President Aquino called Ecarma back to active duty but this time, as a naval reservist.

With so many active duty generals in the Philippines and everywhere else, it is indeed very impressive of Ecarma to have been requested to be back.

Maraming Salamat Natalio Ecarma III, you make your grand dad, Natalio I and your dad, Natalio II and the rest of the 70 million filipinos very proud!

Goodbye!

I can’t believe takeover that ASEC Torres of the LTO is still in office. Being caught on film “leading” a very hostile corporate raid of LTO systems provider Stradcom has made the public lose its faith in her and now, the president himself is spending so much time defending her. If I were her, I’d resign in order to protect the office of the president. There is so much work to be done and the president needs more time to do just that. He also needs the people’s FAITH and not the people’s DOUBTS.

Goodbye my lover , Goodbye my friend. You have (NOT) been the one , You have (NOT) been the one for me!

Here’s the song…

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won

So I took what's mine by eternal right
Took your soul out into the night
It may be over but it won't stop there
I am here for you if you'd only care

You touched my heart you touched my soul
You changed my life and all my goals
And love is blind and that I knew when
My heart was blinded by you
I've kissed your lips and held your head
Shared your dreams and shared your bed
I know you well, I know your smell
I've been addicted to you

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

I am a dreamer and when I wake
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take
And as you move on, remember me
Remember us and all we used to be

I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile
I've watched you sleeping for a while
I'd be the father of your child
I'd spend a lifetime with you

I know your fears and you know mine
We've had our doubts but now we're fine
And I love you, I swear that's true
I cannot live without you

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have (NOT) been the one
You have (NOT) been the one for me

And I still hold your hand in mine
In mine when I'm asleep
And I will bear my soul in time
When I'm kneeling at your feet

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

I'm so hollow, baby
I'm so hollow
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow

I'm so hollow, baby

Senate or House Grilled?

The former Ombudsman of the republic was able to avoid being cooked in an electric grill by filing her resignation. This time however, another lady might not be so lucky. She was captured in CCTV in what seemed like an attempt to lead a group of people from illegally taking over the operations of a huge government contractor. She was asked to take a leave but has now returned when the fire created by the incident has not yet subsided. Let’s see what will happen.

Great Brand

Buying my recent batch of fuji finepix reminds me of the time when I was a student living out on a small allowance. I took tons of photos and of course, needed to buy film all the time. A friend then showed me a good alternative. I was shown a nice brand of film that when closely examined, was also manufactured by Fuji. The end photos were very good. I just hope that Fuji still manufactures those low priced but quality films.

Hi Tech Golf Gadgets

I’ve always wanted my buddies and I to use GPS systems for golf. The game is played in a large tract of land and determining one’s distance can be very unnerving. In addition, I hope that golf balls will also be attached to some kind of a GPS system. I sometimes think that caddies are way too lazy to look where the ball landed and that can cost the golfer a lot in terms of score, self esteem and lost bets.

Wang Wang Wang!

It all seems to be quiet in the implementation of the no wang wang policy of the president. I notice that even cops are a bit afraid to indiscriminately use the device. Of course, there is the occasional rotten egg who tries to get away with it. I really hope that they will get caught on television and shamed to high heavens.

But while we Filipinos are trying hard to start behaving, there are foreigners who think so lowly of us and blatantly violate our laws. There is this Korean who was recently caught using his illegal siren at the most major road in the country's capital.
The suspect, identified as Oh Hoon Kwon, was seen by Robredo himself, driving a black Starex van (with license plate PID-916) with a siren on along Edsa highway in Mandaluyong City late Sunday morning.
His car was confiscated and the guy charged. I hope his face is shown on TV and viewed by everybody who knows him in Korea. I hope that when he eventually gets deported, everybody in that country will tell him how shameful it is to have done it.

I have a Japanese word for you, Oh Hoon Kwon. It starts with a B and ends with an O!

Cowboys and Indians!

As I shopped around for bowhunting equipment for this coming long weekend, I wonder if I will need a permit to carry my modern hunting bow out of my residence. With firearms requiring permits to possess and permits to carry outside the owner’s residence, it seems not very farfetched that ownership and use of other types of “deadly” sporting equipment are in place. I hope not, baby! I am yet to hear of criminals using bows and arrows beyond the days of cowboys and injuns!

Furor Over The Spratly Islands

On March 7, 2008, I wrote about the Spratly Islands (Kalayaan Group) and a military fiasco.

Today, a lot of people are trying to act like experts in the law of the seas and territorial boundaries while the Chinese are saber rattling. Please check the video below but never forget what I have written about the Spratly Islands, a few years ago.

HIV & AIDS Cure

Most of us believe that HIV leads to AIDS. Since HIV and AIDS were first discovered, millions of people have died. Until now, no definite cure has been made known but there's real hope for everyone. A few years ago, a man diagnosed to be suffering from HIV was suddenly cured but nobody has any clue how it happened.

This time however, a well documented procedure lead to the cure of an HIV infected individual. He was given a dangerous bone marrow stem cell transplant wherein the donor is an HIV immune individual. Yes, the said phenomenon exists. About 1 percent of all Caucasians are known to be naturally, immune. Since the transplant, the man's HIV went away.

Allowing Emergency Lights

My car has a LED Light Bar for emergency purposes. I sometimes have meetings in airport offices necessitating the need for the product when crossing runways. I also do a lot of long road trips at night and in dark highways where speeding buses often lingers at the opposite lanes, a powerful LED light warns other vehicles of your presence from longer distances. I just hope that the traffic police will not take offense.
