With the country's low budgeted films consistently getting positive feedbacks and winning awards in foreign film festivals. The country is about to absorb an influx of investments in the industry.
I have seen a few shoots and I think, it is a good source of employment. Imagine the number of pre-film, on-site, post production personnel that will be given employment. Investments in this industry will certainly be good for the country.
Let's hope that nobody ever bothers the film makers and the location of the shoots. Otherwise, they will be forced to limit their locations to safe areas and in the long term, that will adversely effect the quality of our films. Imagine seeing the same location in every film. This reminds me of Jackie Chan's, Samu Hung's, Yuen Biao's and other Golden Harvest films that showed the same staircase's again ang again-- through the years! Hahaha!

100 ‘Most Influential Filipinas’
FOREX RESERVES INCREASE: FINALLY, THERE'S A BIT OF GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES IN THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA
The other day, a search of the international news feeds resulted in nothing but the beauty pageant of Filipino transvestites. At least today, people in other countries, Filipino OFW's in particular, will not be swearing at the news that our Foreign currency reserves is in its all time high. The current stock is enough to cover 5.8 months worth of importations.

PhP 10,000 computers for the Philippines
LENOVO plans to sell $200 PC's in the Philippines.
That's certainly good news for the Filipinos families, the majority of which are yet to have their own PC's.
Let's hope that they will supply us with the good specs at that price level.

GOODBYE, ABE!
Dear Abe,You have just announced that you are resigning.
Well, it was only a matter of time after your political party’s electoral defeat. There’s turmoil in your house (party), you lost the majority in the upper house, four of your party mates went down due to scandals and now, your popularity is down to 30%. Last year, I never thought that this would happen to you. But good riddance, it did.
As a non Japanese, I SHOULD NOT REALLY CARE but I DO.
Our problems are bigger and your affairs are supposed to be separate from ours. However, SUCH WAS NOT THE CASE and much of it is BECAUSE OF YOU. You are the willing leader and poster boy of historical revision. HOW DARE YOU OFFICIALLY DENY THAT OUR COMFORT WOMEN EXISTED? After the sufferings brought upon the innocents by your soldiers, you dare proclaim that there is no evidence that your soldiers systematically enslaved and raped women in your “Comfort Houses” It’s a good thing that you went down.

Is this your first time to see this types of photos, Abe? Your guy beheaded a Pinoy boy. he could have become a great President of this country, who knows?
Perhaps, now that you are leaving, the healing can begin anew. After you disrupted it with your !@#$% declaration. I hope, your children's textbooks will start talking about your real role in the war. I also hope that your successor will have a better stance regarding this issue.
Real reconciliation starts with an acceptance and a humble request for pardon. It is followed by forgiveness and reconciliation. After that, all parties can start to move forward. Your predecessors did just that, but you reversed it Good riddance you’re out.
SAYONARA!

PINOY MAID "LISA" ON RAPE VIDEO RESCUED
UPDATE: It turned out that the Pinay maid rescued is "Lisa", not the Melissa that is now a subject of a widespread search. Like Melissa, she was raped by her employer and sons and the act was videotaped, as well.
I am yet to watch the TV report but I am rejoicing at the rescue of Lisa, the maid videotaped being raped by three sons of her employer.
We are very happy for you, Lisa. We pray that you will soon be able to recover and move on from this horrible experience.
Now, let's all try to get the rapists' genitals burned.
When we were grade school kids, we had a joke. We used to chant;
DEATH BY BUNDA!
DEATH BY BUNDA!
I am laughing as I remember this. This time though, I am not kidding.

PINOY KIDS WIN IN INTERNATIONAL MATH COMPETITION
I saw this flash on the TV screens a few days ago but found the news story just this morning.
Despite the declining ratings that Filipino kids get in aptitude tests, there is still a good number who manage to defy the trend and excel. My friend calls refers to it as pockets of excellence!
In brief, eight students took 20 medals and 15 other awards during the recently concluded 8th Invitational World Youth Mathematics Inter-cities Competition (IWYMIC ) at the Jilin University in Changchun, China. They competed against 66 other teams from 17 other countries.
I wanted to post the list of awards in this article but it is quite lengthy and will almost be tantamount to copying the original article in its entirety. Please check this link for the complete list.

MORE REFRESHING NEWS: Philippines beat China in Basketball---WHOA!!!!
I am not much of a basketball fan but I know that in Basketball, Yao Ming's China rules most of Asia. Therefore, despite the lackluster performance in the ongoing Olympic trials, it really makes the basketball crazy Filipinos very happy to know that their national team beat China by 5 points (74-79).
According to the radio reports, the Philippines were lagging behind during the first three quarters of the game but the fourth quarter changed all that. Here's the complete report.
